Flexible hiring at
At LEON we have one simple goal: to help everyone to eat well and live well. That means both customers and our teams. We know that there are lots of reasons why people want to work flexibly. Some are parents or carers, others are pursuing their passions. Helping our people balance work and home keeps them well. And that makes us happy.
In just the last year we’ve hired a Director of Marketing, Head of Comms and Senior Food Developer on part-time hours. Thanks to the Hire Me My Way Campaign, we are changing our job ads and recruitment materials to make it clear which roles are available to flexible workers. We also pledge to examine the remaining roles and ask what more we can do to open these up. Finally, we have asked Timewise to challenge us on our progress and will update this statement when we can.Leon CareersGO TO WEBSITE
“I think by allowing flexibility employers can unleash leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit in their employees, which is good for business.”
Case study: Cathy Port, Senior Food Development Manager at LEON.
When I returned to work after having my son I decided it was time to get some balance back in my life. I had been working full time for 20 years but I wanted to be around when he started walking and talking; those precious moments that no parent wants to miss.
My working hours at LEON allow me to commute and work around nursery opening hours which removes a lot of pressure. The extra day at home means I can tackle tasks I’d rather didn’t eat into our precious family time at the weekend.
I stay flexible about my days. Whilst I normally take a Friday off, if there is a need to attend a meeting on a Friday I switch days accordingly – meaning I don’t miss out on key work events. I think by allowing flexibility employers can unleash leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit in their employees, which is good for business.
I was lucky enough to be approached directly by LEON, but would encourage everyone to discuss flexible working with their employers. You only get one shot at life, so you need to make the most of it!
