CAREERS AT INNOCENTGO TO WEBSITE

Working flexibly is part of how we manage finite time and limitless opportunities.A lifestyle choice that works for innocent, me and my family.

Alison Wilson, Head of Treasury & Governance at innocent drinks

It seems apt that I am working from home today as I jot down some thoughts about my experience of flexible working.

I’ve worked flexibly for over 15 years now and during that time I’ve been employed by a one man band (me), a global investment bank and now a high growth FMCG company – innocent drinks. So, I can attest to the fact that flexible working patterns are possible across all sizes of firms in various industries at all stages of a career.

For many, including me, the desire to work flexibly is non-negotiable these days. It’s just part of how we manage finite time and limitless opportunities. So, I feel fortunate to work for a company that treats me like an adult and trusts me to do a great job within a working pattern that delivers value for both innocent and me.

I spent the early years of my career doing 9-5 five days a week and it was only when my two children came along that I was prompted to recognise the value of a flexible lifestyle. Working part-time whilst the kids were little kept me sane and now that they are young adults it affords us quality time together which keeps us all close.

Each of us wears multiple hats (mother, wife, sister, friend etc.) and we want to be the very best version of each. But that’s a tough ask if you are ‘fitting life in’ around a rigid work schedule. So by introducing flexibility to my working life I’ve made space for me to be great in all of my guises and that is personally very satisfying.

I work 4 days a week as Head of Treasury & Governance at innocent and I’m also the company’s Ethics Officer and a Trustee of the Innocent Foundation. On my day off I manage my own little business, visit my mum, see my friends and exercise. Doing each well is important to me and they all hinge on flexible working.
